Safe landings

Our learn to gym programs provide the perfect foundation for the development of movement skills, body control and the application of skills in different situations and environments. There are many physical literacy skills children will explore, establish, acquire, and consolidate in our programs.

One of the key movement fundamentals in our curriculum is safe landings. Safe landings refer to the ability to land safely from controlled and uncontrolled situations. The development of these landings improves performance and reduces risk of injury. This also includes the ability to fall safely. It is a skill which is not only important in gymnastics but is transferable to many sports and movement activities.

Along with developing spatial awareness and muscular control in many landing scenarios, participants will do activities that facilitate learning to fall forwards into a prone position and fall backwards with a rock and roll. Eventually these skills may lead to performing increasingly complex exits and falls from height and more advanced skills.
