Mentor Program

OVERVIEW

This course equips team members of Gymsports Management to develop mentoring skills as an essential part of our Youth Leadership Program. The course duration is 6 months which involves an application, paid completion of

  • online content
  • face to face workshop
  • 3- and 9-month group review
  • Supervision allowance – for classes where mentoring

CRITERIA AND OBSERVABLE BEHAVIOURS

  • Best practice in coaching programs – explains, demonstrates and reinforces expected behaviours, knowledge and skills i.e., is a role model
  • Intermediate or higher Coaching Accreditation
  • Values learning and has a keen interest to share knowledge and experience with others
  • Builds positive relationships with peers and is a team player
  • Seeks out opportunities to mentor and coach employees
  • Open to learning from anyone and drives individual improvement through self-reflection
  • Good communication skills, including the ability to provide constructive feedback and to listen and question

Mentor Progress Review

Group progress review at 3 and 9 months

Mentor Annual Meeting and Workshop

1 hour annual meeting

  • Reflection on achievements
  • Sharing experiences
  • Review Youth Leader feedback
  • Provide feedback to Supervisors, Team Leaders and Managers on the Mentor program
